Default I wonder..... have you considered this?

Would it be realistic to assume that cash-strapped Real Life LLMs might be tempted to use Football Manager (or predecessors) to scout/search for players that their real life scouts might never get the chance to see because their Travelcards only go to zone 6? If so, (you know where this is going don't you) blah blah blah Spawn of Satan etc.
Discuss please. Please note that I am not advocating this, I'm just interested (as an LLM newbie) to hear what more experienced LLaMas thought about this.

Chris, this isn't an LLM thread by any stretch of the imagination but since we're in the pre-FM2005 hiatus I'll allow it to continue meantime.

Any post boosting or rubbish from the regular post-boosters will result in some draconian OTF-style banning.

Hmmm. Do real life LLMs play CM by LLM rules?

I used to take a quick look at the in-game CM stats of new players that Norwich signed to see if they were any good (for Norwich that is, not for my game, ofc).

I've seen some higher level teams sign players and wonder if they've been scouting from CM. There was a suggestion that a particularly dire Dutch ML a former manager (also of N. Ireland and Ipswich) signed without ever seeing play himself was signed on the basis of CM. He certainly wasn't any good IRL.

I always wondered whether Big Ron might have heard of CM back then. A few of his signings in the latter days of his managerial career sounded familiar at the time...

As for Real Life LLMs, well, I suppose it's not unlikely. SI's scouting resources pooled together are probably on a par with large clubs. Maybe FM combined with a quick trip down the M1.

I presumed it was common knowledge that the lower tiers weren't researched very well for the game...did they ever find a Leigh RMI researcher for one?

This type of thing is what I am getting at.

It might be the case that LLMs are not playing like real life LLMs at all. If they did, they might use CM/FM to scout for players. Which is one up for the LLMs IMO.

I can just see Kenny Jackett at Swansea, holed up in the boot room with his frayed tracksuit, mug of tea in his hand, laptop plugged into the double adaptor (kettle in other one), scouring the country for 'the next wonderkid' on his FM Gold Demo.

Iajafer - sorry if this topic contravenes the house rules. I can't understand why that should be though. Maybe I need to live here for a while to get it.

Well...if real life LLMs might be tempted to use FM/CM to scout/search for players instead of using the SWYCT ideal due to lack of wonga or scouting nouse, then maybe...maybe followers of the LLM ideal are lauding an ideal which is not entirely practised in real life. In other words, a bit of a Wizard of Oz scenario.

or (whispers)
quote:
is there a case for unscrupulous LLMs to draw the curtains, turn off all the lights and use the player search every now and again

Please note..I'm not advocating this in any way. I like the idea of this infinite ramadan. It's kind of cleansing.
