Sorry if this has been asked before, but take this scenario.

I'm managing Harrogate Town in the Conference North and placed an advert in the Job Centre for an Assistant Manager. I got 5 responses, 2 from Nigerians, 1 from a South African, 1 from a Ukrainian and 1 from a Zimbabwean.

Suppose I placed a similar ad for a Scout. Would it then be within the boundaries of LLM to send a Zimbabwean scout to look at the whole of Africa? Or a Brazilian to South America?

Or should I stick with SWYCT/SYB

I think you use a little bit of common sense really. You live within the boundaries that you set yourself. What would you imagine happening at Harrogate IRL?

Unless those guys had any sort of background in the UK I would say that they were not even valid applicants for the Ass.Man role (or scout etc) at Conference N/S level. If they have some UK connection (making them more realistically employable) then some sort of trip home would be valid, butto their country, not a whole continent.

IRL I can't really imagine a former Nigerian international responding to an advert placed by Harrogate for an Assistant manager, so the game's broken the boundaries of realism in that respect.

However, if one did (and was willing to accept the contract offered), the question is would Harrogate turn him down?

I suppose it's possible, as former England and Brazil international players have signed for Garforth IRL, and they're below Conf N/S.

I wondered how long it would be until the Garforth scenario was used to dilute the LLM Ethos.

Apologies if you're getting the wrong impression iajafer, I was just pointing out the slight similarities between a situation that has arisen in my LLM game on FM and the Garforth situation IRL.

What would you do in my position?

just to clarify - at the moment I've only got the 1 scout (English) looking at UK & Ireland - I've placed a Job Centre ad for others and await the response.

The thing with Garforth is the bloke who runs them has a knowledge of working and coaching in Brazil, so such contacts arn't out of his scope..
