So from what I can see, I'm within the LLM ethics if the foreign staff approach me, then sending scouts to their own country is OK.
I'll be on dodgy territory if I suddenly start approaching foreign players/staff out of the blue.

Sounds about right, but I'd be worried if it is a regular thing to get foreign applicants for lower league jobs. You get the odd one or two now and again, but yours seems rather daft - five at once.
Not your fault obviously, it's something in the game. Hopefully just a one off.
When I played the gold demo, I only had British applicants for my Stafford coaching advert.

More to the point, how do you get work permits for the foreign staff? (i haven't employed non-EU staff since 01/02, but you had to apply for work permits for non EU staff in that game)
Are you simply getiing responses from some of the various Nigerian/SA's/Jamaicans who are british but through parentage play for those countries? (there is also a 'known coach/Ass Man' with Ukrainian birth, UK citizenship, a pro footballer for a son and a Daughter who occasionally does well playing tennis for Britain at Wimbledon - your not getting him making the applications are you?)

That's a good point to be honest.
Obviously, I would suggest that the general consensus is that this is a bit of a publicity stunt. Also, the player in question is only due to play 4 games for them.
Also, the Garforth chairman has connections in Brazil, and also an ambition to get his team to the Premier league within 25 years.
However, I would say that it is highly questionable that an unknown manager would be able to be so influential with regards to bringing in such well known personnel.
Clubs like Garforth are the exception, and not the rule, and as such I think anyone who tries to use this argument as a valid way of doing things LLM style, they will probably be laughed out of town.

I've lost the list of applicants now, but looking at the Nigerian I appointed as Assistant Manager, I did an internet search and apparently he played for Watford fairly recently, and has also played in Holland so may have 2nd nationality (can't see one in game though)

With the scout ad, I got responses from 3 Englishmen, a Scot and a Slovenian (under contract to a club at home)
I've picked up one of the English and the Scot.

Right - the Harrogate game was running too slowly (I overestimated my PC's capabilities) but it allowed me to get a feel for LLM before jetting off to somewhere completely different.
South Korea.
Another Scouting Question guys. According to Encarta 2002, S. Korea only has a land border with North Korea, but the countries don't exactly enjoy good relations, so it's unlikely that a South Korean club would send a Scout there.
Japan's just across the water, but isn't accurately modelled in FM for licensing issues, so that leaves China the other side.
Given the size of China, it's possible a Scout sent there could go further away from South Korea than if he'd gone to some of the other East Asian countries (Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand etc...)
If I fall back on SWYCT pretty much the whole continent opens up to me.
Comments?

Well, to be honest if it was me, SWYCT would be what I'd do. Wahtever seems realistic to you though is the general feeling.

I don't think foreign players are alowed in the South Korean league anyway, so the question may be academic.
