Won't start that way in my 1st game, but I am sure I will give it a go. I just want to make sure I can run scads of leagues if I am starting unemployed, and I won't know that until I rate my PC's performance in handling the calculations that FM throws its way.

quote:
The only thing I don't like about this idea is that by the time you are at an established club, all the players that are classy in real life are old and retired (or older and past their prime)

I dont see this as a problem if you play the LLM way then you may not know of these players anyway. No doubt unknown youngsters and regens have taken their place so it is realistic. LLM = realism.
What Physim said, I prefer it when the players are not known to me in real life. Although a lot of time at the lower levels their real life abilities bear little relation to their abilities in the game.
Whether people choose to start aas unemployed will I think depend on whether doing so has any actual impact on the game or is just a gimmicky sort of thing.
Well from a realism standpoint... we are required to suspend realism enough to suggest we are good enough to be football managers at all right?
So I don't think its a huge leap from that to suggest its OK to pick which team you start at. But starting unemployed is probably more realistic, but only if you don't then get offered the Chelsea job or something like that.
Not until I see how it works (through the experiences of others). I couldn't bear to miss transfer windows etc at the start of the game whilst waiting to be employed.
I'll be playing this as I do with every incarnation of CM so far - my first game will be with my supported team (non-LLM, I know) so I can get used to the game, layout, general feel of it. Then when the game is bought and it is time to start a new game, I will venture into the depths. If the "unemployed" thing is working on the demo, then I shall (like a couple of others have mentioned) see how that is received by them and decide if it is an option for me. I think it is a good idea though, as it will mean starting at the bottom level. Missing transfer windows wouldn't be a problem for me though, as I normally give my current squad the benefit of the doubt at the start of the season anyway. IMO, you need to get a few games under your belt before identifying any potential weaknesses in your squad.
Of course, if you have no strikers at all, then that's a problem that needs to be sorted right away.
