Im going to start my first game with AFC Wimbledon then possibly go unemployed.

I'm not going to make use of the feature. I prefer browsing through the available teams (I usually pick foreign countries anyway) and then choosing one that looks interesting and has nice colours that don't roast my eyes. I also don't like the idea of missing half of the first season already. When I start a game, I usually do it with the intention to play.

Sadly not, they are 2 leagues below the Conference South I'm afraid

Just as an experiment, I started a few games of the demo as unemployed. I ended up with a job no later than the first week of September.

In ten attempts, I ended up at Hereford 4 times. 3 times at Bradford PA, and one each at Kidderminster, Farnborough and Harrogate Town.

Personally, I think it will be better to pick a team at Conf N/S level.

It seems you might as well choose the club you start as otherwise it will be the same three or four clubs who appoint you everytime. Then again perhaps you could start unemployed, stay that way for a whole season and take over a newly promoted team. This would only be good if the promotion works better in FM and different teams come up instead of the same few every time.

Promotion to the Conference worked very well in 01/02. Often it would be the better teams promoted in the first couple of seasons, but there was great variation after. Sometimes old teams would rightly reappear, other times new ones would rightly appear.
Hopefully it will be like that this in FM2005.

Yeah, I will be very happy if promotion is like in 01/02 but am slighty worried it will be like CM4/CM0304 where teams came up that shouldn't have, not much variety etc.

i won't be starting off unemployed at first, as i will want to be playing the game straight off
