I must be blind to have never noticed this before but it cam to my attention whilst looking at Dean Ashton's stats in my game that he was equally good with either foot.
Odd, I thought, surely not. I loaded up an old game, early season and he is down as right footed.
Is it because I play him as a Target Man on the left? (Don't know why I do but there you go!) or does training have a major effect on it?
Regardless, I thought it was a nice touch and saves me having to splash out on a left footed striker.

Thats something different. Could someone who knows clarify how this happened? Is it a training thing? happens because it just did? etc? I always like having players who can use both feet in my team.

That's very cool...though i wish i could train players to play with both feet without having to play them in matches! Surely they can learn on the training ground.
Or perhaps try to make it a youth academy policy that all players train all drills with both feet. I do it IRL with the teams i coach, so i want to do it in FM!

I always found when I was coaching that lessons (including developing the weaker foot) could be learned in training, but needed to be cemented in match play.

My school team did'nt have any naturally left-footed players. I normally played as a striker or a right-winger. We struggled in the left-wing position and my sports teacher asked if I fancied giving it a go. The catch though, was if I tried to cross or shoot with my right foot, or kept needlessly cutting inside to use my right, I "owed" him 20 press-ups!
Obviously I did'nt want to give him the benefit of that and very quickly improved the use of my left peg  Throughout my playing days as a result of his "pursuasive" method, I was always able to cross or shoot comfortably with either foot.
I like the fact that FM recognises that with practice, it's possible to improve the use of both feet, along with other technical attributes. It's another bit of "realism" that makes such a superb game.

Right, which is why it's a youth academy policy, because the youth players do indeed play matches!
