Hello,
Apple has just released a new Macbook without any CD/DVD player incorporated.
There is no issue on installing the game.
However, will it be possible to play with FM2008 given the fact that each time I launch it there a CD check that is performed?
My guess is that the answer is no. Unless SI provide another form of copy protection then I think FM will need to be played on a CD/DVD capable computer.

Yup, pretty much.
On the other hand, you could always just not close FM
You'll have to use the usb dvd rom drive that they will sell as an accessory. Alternatively, SI might end up releasing FM09 as a digital download and then it should work (thats just my idea, no official comments yet).
Yes, aha, yup, agreed, you can play FM08 on a Mac Air. External CD/DVD readers which can be attached via USB. Very simple. But please, don't buy Mac Air. I will hunt you down and steal it. In other words, I will forever be jealous of you, you bastard! NO!!!!
You can also try creating a DVD image with dedicated software, which the Finder should then be able to mount. Not sure if that will work, though. Best to try it out on your existing Mac.
And to echo bomjr: If you do get the Mac Air, I already hate you
Don't the MacBook Airs come with software to 'borrow' the CD/DVD drive of another computer? So if you have another computer in the house then you can leave the CD in that.
