Default Gaining Home Grown status

I know that a player must be at your club for 3 years before he turns 21 to gain home grown status but if you sign a 18 year old and loan him out for a season will he still get HG status for your club?

I ask because i singed a few brazilians in my Man Utd game when they turned 18 and loaned them all out at some point and they have all now turned 21 and haven' become HG but i was sure this was fine in the last version.

I assume no one knows judging by the views/replies ratio.

Well, if you buy him when he's 18, then he'll turn 21 before the 3 years have passed

Correct.

If you want a player to be home grown for you, he must be at your club before his 18th birthday. Not on...BEFORE.

There's a good reason why most countries now don't allow their U18 players to play abroad. It makes a mockery of the "home grown" system.
