Champions League football is just the cream on top of the cake. The bread and butter stuff is the league and there can be no doubt that the standard of football in Spain is miles higher than in Scotland for those who want a challenge.

Going to play for Celtic is great for those players who want a relatively easy time playing for a team who are by far the best in their league, but it isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Personally I would choose Scotland over playing in Spain anyday, but maybe not if it was Celtic whom I hate!
I cant beleive a newcastle fan is trying to slag Celtic. Your club is the laughing stock of world football. You think you should be winning trophies !! When was the last time you won anything ? It was the fairs cup I think

You talk about players wanting an easy time of
it. What you mean players like owen and martins who have chosen 100'000 a week to play for a team who are never in europe. Where is their ambition.

Just imagine what we would achieve if we had some of your english funny money to spend on players. Just think......... </BLOCKQUOTE>

When did you last win the European Cup or get to the Final?

You should be embarassed that your league is the standard of our league one </BLOCKQUOTE>

I think the reputations (and the FM database in general) is pretty accurate.

I'd like to think that Scotland could attract better players, but it is unfortunately the truth that we can't. Until Scotland can match the wages of Spanish clubs, we will never get the quality over here.

Most of the players that end up here are just looking for moves to the premiership. You get the odd star exceptions that come here (for whatever original reason) but end up staying because they love it - Larsson, Laudrup. But the majority of foreign imports are either realistic that they will never make it and come to our league to make an easy living (relatively speaking) or use it as a stepping stone. I think FM's database represents this well - unfortunately.

And as for which country I'd choose personally. I'm Scottish but prefer to go and watch Spanish football (Valencia is my team). And I hate to admit it in a way, but Spanish football to me is much more interesting than Scottish or English leagues.

p.s. The one good thing about Scotland struggling to attract foreigners here (in real life) is that our youngsters are now coming through. Good news for the Scotland team !!!

I didn't say anything against Celtic other than that I hate them which is purely opinion and opinion based on the fact that there are numerous SPL clubs I like and I do ~50% of my FM play managing there (with a variety of different clubs) and Celtic are always a thorn in my side season after season. Realistic of course, but that doesn't mean I have to like them for it

As for Newcastle, you have a very sweeping use of the word "you". Newcastle fans have a variety of differing opinions on how their club should be doing and everything else, but obviously those opinions are not widely reported outside Tyneside because it makes far better news to portray all Newcastle fans as deluded people thinking they should have won 27 trophies in the last 3 decades.

Your comments on Owen and Martins appear to argue against your initial point also. Clearly big name (well, bigish) players do move to clubs in big leagues who don't play in Europe.

As an aside, I do actually support Celtic in Europe because I'm odd and whilst I hate them domestically for always winning I am 100% behind them in Europe. The same cannot be said of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United. And I'm a Derby County fan first and foremost by the way so I would say Newcastle United have some way to go yet to be as much of a laughing stock as Derby

Taking your example of Muntari and his options:

Celtic: Lots of trophies in Scotland, but it is a lesser league than where he is currently playing and he will not win the CL.

Deportivo: Admittedly in risk of bankruptcy and struggling, but would give the opportunity to impress clubs like Real, Atletico, Barca, Sevilla, Valencia etc, who would be the next step in his career. Plus the league is equally as competitive as where he is currently playing, and there is the glimmer of hope that Depor might return to its winning ways from 7 years ago.

I'd pick Deportivo, as would most other people.

Most footballers would ch

When did we last when

Typical scouser, I am amazed you could actually read my post.

When money wasn't a factor and you had to bring up young players from your academy, Celtic were the first british team to win it. That was before rich foreigners buy clubs and spend silly money on players.
Don't americans own your club ? and practically every other team in Engurland is owned by a foreigner. Cant you produce your own talent ?
Maybe that is why england are sh1te !

At least the Scottish league dont sell their soul for trophies !!

Celtic and Rangers are owned by the fans and always will be. We also own our own grounds.
Ours is called celtic park, not the emirates or the reebok for example. What do you think they will name your ground ? The pizza hut stadium or maybe the coca cola stadium.
Sell outs.

putting petty rivalries to one side have you tried comparing club reputation, club value, player nationality, player language etc

Past reputation is no measure of current reputation. Argubaly the big player signings in the past to clubs like Celtic and Rangers aren't quite as prevalent now as they were in the past irl. This clearly a result of money that clubs have to spend on wages e.g. you may want to join a club already full of star players would understandbly be concerned at being the first

Plus if you actually could read I amended my post straight after!

Just face it your club has always been a feeder club to the bigger leagues!

If our league is such a sell out how come every few years your lot are banging on about trying to join our leagues?
