And what do you do when you get the negative reaction from your board? Or do you have the patch with the "I was just checking to see what the transfer budget might be" option?

My board love me anyway.

As long as I only do one or two a season (and don't accept them), they don't really mind.

Not as such, but I have occasionally, at the off-season break:
- saved
- added a new manager to go inspect some club's financial situation
- and then re-loaded to the save point.

Typically, I do this out of curiosity, "following the fortune" of one of the big clubs, even though I have no intention of managing them.
