I've started a new game unemployed with the intention of taking on the first team who offered me a job. The team I eventually ended up at is Rochdale
Rochdale were bottom of the league just prior to Christmas when I took them over.
I lost an early game away to Hereford but then went on an amazing run
vs Barnet H Drew 1-1
vs Wycombe A Drew 1-1
vs Mansfield A Drew 1-1
vs Bradford H Drew 1-1
vs Chester H Won 3-0
vs Lincoln A Drew 0-0
vs Peterborough H Won 2-1
vs Macclesfield A Drew 1-1
vs Rotherham H Won 3-0
vs MK Dons A Drew 2-2
vs Shrewsbury H Drew 0-0
vs Dag & Red A Won 6-2
vs Notts Co H Won 2-0
vs Grimsby H Won 2-0
vs Wrexham A Drew 2-2
vs Chesterfield A Drew 1-1
vs Brentford H Drew 1-1
vs Stockport A Lost 4-1
Following the Stockport game the team appeared disillusioned and requested the club captain call a team meeting.
I don't get this as I've moved the club up from 24th to 18th. The media prediction is only 13th and the board, upon my offer of contracted requested a respectable league position. My confidence level for current performance is low stating that the board believe the team are not being competitive in Lg 2.
I've just gone from the bottom of the table on a 17 game unbeaten run.

It came up as a message. i'd put a screenie up my FM on a different PC.
The screenie said
Ass Man John Forrest has noted that several players are disillusioned with Rochdale's current league position. Forrest recommends that you consider asking your captain Gary Jones o one of the other senior players to organise a team meeting in an attempt to turn things around
I then selected gary jones and the player interaction section and one of the options was a team meeting
I know how to select a team meeting. I just want to understand why the team is disillusioned having gone unbeaten for 17 games and moved 7 places up the table in the meantime.
It is not logical. In real life the morale of the squad would be fantastic. New manager - unbeaten run - higher place in the table
I think the point he is trying to make is why should the players be disillusioned after only losing one game in 18. Seems like he is being punished for the previous managers failings.
Yeah, the patch fixed the main bug, where a board didn't seem to acknowledge over achievement. e.g. if the 2 year plan was to win promotion to the Premier League and you achieved this in the 1st season, then you would get sacked at the end of the 2nd season.(as you are no longer able to gain promotion to the Premier League as you are already in it).
The issue the OP decribes a different unfixed issue, and will hopefully be resolved with the 8.0.2.
But the team were still underperforming. And you drew a lot of games. I know you were unbeaten, but three draws is the same as a win and two losses. You had eleven draws in your seventeen games, which could be considered the same as nine wins, two draws and six losses, which isn't such good form.
And I suspect that is why the team was disillusioned, because they were in poor form, and, although you have gone on a good run, it probably still isn't safe mid-table, which is why they're disillusioned.
I agree that the confidence needs changing when you take over a poor team midtable. I've seen managers take over a club, do reasonably well, and get fired for finishing lower than expected. I just hope that doesn't happen to you, especially after a seventeen game unbeaten run.

Good comments made - agree with what you say. Following that run I went won one lost one for a while. Still in 18th with 6 games to go. No danger of relegation. Will see how it pans out - looking forward to milking the Man City youth squad / reserves in the summer as they are my feeder club
