You take over an English job. You have a successful season, either promotion for a mid-table team, or safety for a team widely tipped for relegation.
About 3/4 of the way through the season, a news item pops up saying that Alex Ferguson would not be offered a new contract and that you are hotly tipped to take over. Is it me or does this happen every time you do well after 1 season.
I tested this to see how lower league managers were affected by this, and it happened after my first season with Hyde.
Maybe it's linked to the reputation that you start the game with.
I start as a Sunday League footballer so there is not much chance of me taking over at Man Utd. I would guess that your reputation is set somewhat higher.
Yes, but what reputation did you start the game with? If you put yourself on a par with all these top managers, then obviously you'll get offered that type of job.
I think it has to do with what past experience you give yourself at the start of a new game.
If you set it to "international player" this happens, when set to "Sunday league player" it doesn't.

Looks like all three of you have a point there, but im still suprised that after 1 season, you still get offered the Man Utd job.
Well if you imagine Fabio Capello managing Hyde, then it would be pretty obvious for a big team to approach him.
Best I've managed is being linked with Sunderland and Birmingham while midtable with a league 2 side as an ex-pro. I was tipped to replace Ferguson after one pretty successful season at Juventus, which I thought was harsh as he was only a few points off top spot and in the semis of the champs league.
