I dont agree, playing narrower does deny the opposition space through the middle forcing them out wide. </BLOCKQUOTE>
It's true when you are hit by counter attack. Playing wide with the ball your players are streched and it takes time for them to get back narrow. But eventually, they will go back as narrow as if you were playing narrow in the first place.
