It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Hi Storm,

Team talk wise I would say that it was bad to tell you player that you expect a performance whilst playing away. This could cause them to be more nervous.

I am more forgiving away from home.

Absolutely! Although I tend to leave team talks to my assistant now that I've got a good one.

I dont agree, playing narrower does deny the opposition space through the middle forcing them out wide. </BLOCKQUOTE>

It's true when you are hit by counter attack. Playing wide with the ball your players are streched and it takes time for them to get back narrow. But eventually, they will go back as narrow as if you were playing narrow in the first place.

hey zdobzdub!

u say that the team talk should be wishin the team gd luck before the game, but that is not necessarily right!

if you are manchester united and your playing accrington stanley lets say, your not goin to say gd luck. you should really say you expect a win because it isnt as if manchester united would need luck against accrington stanley.

you need to b picky with what you say. if you are playin awful at home against a rubbish team, be more angry with your side bt if the same performance is happening away from home, dont be as harsh!

grovesy

I don't do anything differently and I'm just as good away from home as I am at home...

Well the only thing I don't do is say "I expect you to win", that's the only difference I make and I do just fine away from home (First in L1 with Lincoln City in fifth season )

If you play defensively closing down can be risky as your players will obviously close down
in your own side and if the opponent has good skills he could get through and create chances.
But if you play rather up the pitch in fact it can be very effective especially if you play against a team who tends to keep possession.
