I'm at the end of the second season and just been given the newcastle job as I had got promotiion with Birmingham, the whole club is under performing (for a change) but what really struck me was how poor the scouts are - anyone got suggestions for good scouts who will come to newcastle and find me the next Alan Shearer? -
Apologies if this has been asked but I did a search and just got bogged down.

Slightly off (yet on) topic, what makes a good scout. Obviously judging ability and potential but what else? Some scouts are unbelievably faster than others, but what affects this? Determination?
Must admit I've never fully utilised the scouting utility. Just tried to up my knowledge then use the player search to find good players.

Steps to getting a good scout.
1. Go to "Staff Search" section
2. Go to "Filters" and "Ask assistnat to filter out unreealistic staff" as you are Newcastle you should be left with alot.
3. now flter again so only "Scouts" are shown
4. You know have every scout on the game who would join your club
5. change the view so you show "Mental Attributes"
6. Now click on "Judging Player Potential/Ability) so all the scouts with the highest marks are shown at the top of the.
7. Look at the profiles of the scouts that look good e.g if you have 10 or 15 scouts who all have 20 for judging Ability/potential, look at their profiles to see how much they know about the areas you wish to scout. If you are after a Brazilain get a scout with 20 who has good knowledge of Brazil.
8. Good luck, hope that helps

| I only consider the two judging abilities. I don't think the other ones have much (if any) influence. Scouts are great to find youth talent, that's mostly how I use them.

Thanks for this.
I meant I had been bogged down searching the forums for a good scout link, and yes "The Owls" I had tried staff search - but could remember seeing a list of top quality scouts on the forums before. Thanks to Robert Gee for his guide - I'll use that. Off topic, I had to wait while Newcastle were taken over - then got offered the job and only have a transfer kitty of £10 million - seemed a bit tight to me but Fiorentina are offering me £20 m for Duff, so it aint all bad.
Cheers.
