Ok brief history...I've been terrible at Football Manager since I got it in October. But recently I used these forums to help me play the game better and I got promotion in my first season with Blackpool.

Now in my 2nd season in The Championship i'm battling relegation which I expected. However I seem to keep getting the worse luck ever in matches!

For example I was holding Plymouth 1-1 away then my defence get robbed and they score. I kick off, they get robbed again and they score another!

Then in a relegation fighter against Luton. It is 1-1 my keeper comes out to clear a ball and hits it against the Luton striker and it just so happens to roll in from 30 yards!

Now I know there are solutions to fix defensive errors and I've tried many things. I've put my defenders and keeper down to little creativity, i've altered their passing from direct to very direct. I've altered their mentality but nothing seems to work.

I'm beginning to think this game is just out to **** me off.

I'm not happy.

I know how you feel about getting robbed, sometimes you gotta go defensive soon as you score the first goal. I'm playing as arsenal at the moment and I got stuffed by 3 set plays with no build ups n lost 3-0 to watford , I dunno how it is to play with blackpool but try this formation 4-4-2 Longball it worked for me playing with man city...hope it can help you.

Cheers mate! I think the game is too complexed, it hurts my brain lol.

The annoying thing is my mates boast how good they are at it but they are liverpool or barcelona all the time!

as soon as u get get a result u like, make a sub, change a position, change from normal to counter attack, do little things, dont go from 3-5-2 to 5-4-1 ....... good luck.

you say you've tried everything, it sounds to me as though your constant tinkering is leaving your players a bit confused. it is natural to try and change things tactically if the game isn't going your way but it takes time for players to adapt to different styles of play. stick to your guns and try a bit of tactical consistency and allow your players to familiarise themselves with the tactic for a while.
being an underdog in your division i would certainly adopt a counter-attacking style, and a slow tempo and short passing game with narrow width seems to work very well in FM2007.
i've never been a believer in altering individual player instructions unless the individual is very gifted or has very poor decision making. try keeping each to team instructions which, for me, works better to create tactical solidity. good luck mate
