Right guys I have not posted before, but there comes a time in everyones life when you are in the mire and I am.
I've been an a total admirer of Cleon and wwfan beside a few others and how they have the time to write their info down is unbelievable, if it wasn't for u guys I would of thrown it in the bin ages ago, and believe me I felt like it on many loads of times (cant spell occations).
Anyway I'm losing it big style now, last season got the mighty Hereford utd to the play offs against all the odds, and lost in the final. That was fine, but all of a sudden this season I'm J/favs to win lge 1 and I'm now getting slaughterd every game, can somebody tell me in "layman terms where I'm going wrong.
Oh Oscars to for best info to wwfan, and supporting info to cleon, best leading lady millie tee hee

I've actually found the suckiest place to be is highly ranked and with a crap squad. The problem is that this is likely to happen if you're pretty successful. Is this what happened to West Ham and Wigan this season? I speculate...
You can use the fact that the opposition fear you to your advantage. You may draw a lot of games, but I assume from your post that staying up would be a good start, so perhaps you have to go more for average results than stunning ones.
I would play a bit more defensively and try and hit teams on the break. Deliberately drawing them out (as favourites normally would) is suicide if you have a poor team. You'll also be very susceptible to the counter attack. Therefore playing for the 0-0 is probably the best approach until you have the staff to affect a change.
Try investing in a pacy striker (doesn't have to be that good - just nippy) and strengthening your defence too. A good tactic can only go so far without the players.
If it's any consolation, when I get into this position I usually collapse too. You're far from alone.

cheers Millie,I will go for that, its like being the middle pin on a ten pin bowling alley, its only the the opp goalie that hasn't had a go, by the way I went on a 17 run game run without getting defeated at the end of last season.
you deserved the oscar, well done

| to be honest, if you are in such admiration you should actually read some of the stuff they post. I'm pretty sure all of them would have mentioned re-ranking at some point.

I have read and read there info, but it kind of gets confusing as they all have there own ideas how to combat the re-ranking. Anyway I think hopefully after Millie pointing in the right direction, I'm back on a role, well I've won a game anyway.Thank you

Can't beat this advice. If you're in a slump, then stopping the rot is the first port of call, and trying to keep morale up. Big up your players as much as you can considering the situation. And strengthen where possible, and hope for the 1-0 wins to start rolling in |

Adding to that. In lower leagues, I have found having a target man up front is like gold dust. Just hit him with long balls and crosses, causes lower league defenses lots of problems

Cheers fun-nick, some more good advise unfortunetly, my chairman went over my head and sold my best striker for 2 million just before the transfer window closed, so hopefully come december I can buy a decent an arf decent target man.
I think another problem I didn't deal with properly was that Tammy my captain and best DC wanted away after we lost in the play offs and I
wouldn't let him. Didn't notice he was in the last season of his contract and he's happy now as he knows he's off whatever the outcome. Cheers

At home play 1 tick below attacking, direct passing with quick tempo. Play one tick above deep for your d-line and use target man "to head." And Counter attack.
For your corners, have them to the near post and have your target man with near post flick on. You will get a ridiculous amount of goals.
Some potential names for target men.....
Leo Fortune-west, Stephen Torpey, Wayne Allison, Aaron Wilbraham, Gareth Taylor. Or anyone with 16 + heading.
Hope that helps. I've been promoted with Bath City and Rushden & Diamonds by playing this simple tactic.
Please post back so we can see how your getting on. Good luck.

cheers swfc, for the info, gareth taylor is actually my physio, and I tried to get him to play but he said I quote "Hereford not on your (swear word life) it was a bad word. I'm in 2010, I will look out for the rest of the guys, I would expect Allison will be collecting his pension, as the blades got rid of him a few years ago due to not being able to get the wheelchair on the pitch.
You are another one of the guys that I give credit where credits due you deliver
