My new 3-4-1-2 formation
3 CBs, and 4 across WB/DM & an AM and two strikers
The concept was to try and have a solid defence - important for a lower-end premier league side, who do make a lot of turnovers - and yet still be able to get numbers into attack
The idea is for the 4 players running up the pitch to get the ball into the AM, who directs play either to the strikers (big target type on the left, faster/more skillful on the right) or uses the 4 men now hitting the box
In practice it works surprisingly well, given how little tinkering I've done with it. This is my first tactic from scratch, has helped move my Cardiff team from 16th to (currently) 5th
Especially useful as an alternate tactic, when you go 1-0 down it forces the opposition team to play differently
