Conceding every time opposition goes 4-2-4, need help
Can someone give me effective settings for a tactic to "shut down shop"? I tried making my own (ultra very defensive mentality, very narrow, slow tempo, no forward runs) but it's not effective as I concede at least one goal every time the opposition goes 4-2-4.

I'm not sure that playing very narrow is effective as I think the width setting has more to do when you have the ball rather than without the ball.
Have your full backs making no forward runs and marking the oppositions wingers. If the opposition have a good midfield, maybe even mark them out of the game. Get your wingers to track back. Maybe get your stikers to make runs in to the corners by putting sideways arrows to the corners. Set time wasting to often. You need to have some players making forward runs otherwise you're inviting too much pressure. Have the wingers making mixed forward runs and focus passing down the flanks.

only thing you really can do, imo, is play more defensively, close down closer to own area, counter attack, play direct. Also use 4 defenders and 1-2 DMs. No forward runs for fullbacks and even tight mark opposite wingers.

The AI always tends to play dierct and quick with a pushed up DL in the last ten minutes(better teams eariler), to counter this, play deep, slow, long and with counter attacking.
