when managing a average team, i sign who i feel i need to push the team further up the league, as well as prospects.

Once im the top team in the league ill only sign youngsters to bring through, or if i have a bad season ill sign a star to spice things up again.

I try to sell players when they hit 30 to make a bit of money back unless they are a legend at the club.

on fm07 - i had the leeds starting line up of players that i signed at the age of 21 or under and went on to dominate for years, when the players start hitting 27/ 28, then i focus on signing there long term replacements, and bring them through slowly, so by the time my main player hits 30, my youngster is ready to take over.

Even if i dont need a player, ill still sign him if he looks a great prospect because you never know when your next world star will develope. Players who dont make it into my first team, i sold on for a good profit.

On that game, in the year 2021, i looked at the england squad, 4 were my players, another 18 were players who i had at one point and sold on. the starting 11 either played for me or used to but never made my first team.

First of all..i only buy a player who less than 25 years old. I like signing good young player then send them to another club for loan. I have about 15
players who went out for loan. When they finished their loan, i will only take the best and sell the rest. So, i can make a lot of money out of all this.

I buy to suit the club around me.

For example at Chelsea I would buy the best players in the game, quite often at their peaks.

At Benfica I had to bring in young players, and a lot of South Americans, because I couldn't afford or attract established stars.

At Fiorentina I brought in young Europeans and tried to keep an Italian core.

And at Nottingham Forest - now in the Premiership - I buy anyone I can get!

I usually buy youth or cheap class stars.
I also tend to try and buy/build a core of nationals from that country. I don't, however pass up the chance of free transfers even if the player is aging as they could both tutor but alos possibly help to decide games.

I always invest in youth first and foremost. Then I would but a few established, but still young, players. Like Adu, M Fernandez, Benaga etc.
I would also bring in one or two very good 28 ish players especially if a new captain is needed.

I'll never sign a player over 25, not caring who they are, always try to sign the best from the country i'm managing in first, before looking abroad. I also never sign the "usual suspects" in FM, i prefer to unearth my own talent.

I love young players and versatile players, always seem to try and ship the whole team out and end up replacing them with young players who are probably not any better.

Being Norwich its difficult to get rid of deadwood and i have ended up 19k/week over the wage budget but there is nothing i can do, just hope that a team is stupid enough to buy the deadwood.

Always seem to underperform, probably because i do not end up strengthening lol

I'll buy a few players in, if necessary, than try to rely on youth players and regens if possible.

most of the time i will try and make my club reliant on my own academy, but whoever i am i send out my scouts and sign youngsters, yet i always sign a few golden oldies for experience and for quality in depth. However for a player over 30 i wont pay any more than 6/7 million for him.
