first FM05 game, time to start unemployed. didn't apply for any jobs, and went in as a dutch manager, to avoid getting in to the lower English leagues. after 2 weeks get offered the Enkopings SK job!!

they were in the relegation zone 15th in the Swedish 1st divison, after 7 games. meaning I bypassed the lowest league.

My question and it's an ethics one is this:

My guess is that for a manager to get sacked after 7 games it indicates that the team should have been holding a much higher league position. and as such would they employ an unknown foreign manager?



I know it's my games and all that, but I was just wondering if anyone else has found this, going in unemployed and getting offered seemingly better jobs than picking a team from the off.

I guess so, but then, the same can be said about pretty much any team, who are unlikely to be appointing someone with your experience, whatever their level. (I say your experience, i mean mine of course, for all i know you might be an internationally renowned manager )

It does seem a bit odd though, as i suspect if you had been managing a team in the bottom division and not doing so well, Enkoping probably wouldn't have offered you the job.

I guess that they take the opiion that a manager who is 'unproven' is preferable to one proven to be bad!

this has been discussed in another thread. At the beginning of the game only so many teams have no manager if you start unemployed so it is likely you wont be offered a job in the lowest league.

The unemployed thing is a bit of a gimmick really.

Yeah I get that, thats why i said else where, like nailing my manhood to the kitchen table starting unemployed is something I will only try once. :eek:

Enköping, who played in the Swedish Premier just two years ago, got relegated from div1 this year.

I don't use the unemployed thing now.

In my first test game, I was offered the job at Morton. Now, as far as I know, that is not the easiest job in the world but I did discover that there was a whole league below that full of competent and experienced managers. Any of them would have been up for the job and in the queue ahead of me, I should think.

Yeah, I agree, the unemployed thing is a bit of a gimmic.

I started a spoof game unemployed and the Gretna Manager got the Morton job and I was offered Gretna...so there's obviously a random element to it, which is good.
