Default Welcome! Oh no, that's your line...

Welcome. Not again.

As you can already tell, I am new and not a comedian. Welcome. Damn! (That's the last time, I promise )

Brief History of Me + CM/FM:

Played 00/01 without becoming a CM addict.
Didn't buy 01/02 (yes, big mistake I hear!)
Pretty much forgot about CM for three years
Played 03/04 at friends house
Bought 03/04
Became enthralled by CM
Ventured onto the CM and Dugout forums
Found my way to the these forums and have read and read since registering

After following the build up to FM 2005, getting the demo's and buying the game itself, I started off playing the game as I always have done. Chelsea (I know, I know!)... Barcelona...

I did have a few brief stints with LL clubs on 03/04 but nothing particularly substancial or LLMish.

Last week I decided that I wasn't enjoying the big club experience anymore. So I headed for this forum. Since then, I have been reading all the important stuff and generally getting my head round the LLM scene. And here ends the brief history... wasn't very brief, sorry!

Congratulations, by the way, on this forum and the way iajafer and co. keep the spirit and rules of LLM alive and kicking. It's been a real inspiration for me.

However, I haven't actually started an LLM save on FM yet. I want to ask a few questions first... (yes, I've finally arrived at the meaning for this post!)

What should I base my nation and league selection on?
Is extra detail preferable/acceptable or not?
Is there a preferable/acceptable database size?
Should I use real player names?
Should I mask player attributes (FOW)?
Any rules/preferences surrounding the Managers Profile?
Which Highlight mode do/should you watch games in?

Thanks in advance, it's a pleasure to be here.

Welcome. :p

1) Your choice really. Poofland's good because it has the Conference North and South now, but Jockland's tougher.

2) I don't use it, never saw the need.

3) Biggest your machine can handle.

4) Yes.

5) Yes.

6) I always have my own Nationality (Scottish) and my real favourite Team (Hearts)

7) Fastest and Key Moments.

8) Welcome to LLM

Answering each point in turn:

- On whatever you want, as long as it has at least 2 levels and you start in the lowest available.

- Preferable no, aceptable yes.

- Huge would be good, whatever your PC can handle though.

- If you want.

- Yes.

- No.

- Key highlights for me, whatever suits you though.

Welcome to LLM

This will be a rare occasion where the English agree with the Scots and the Greeks.

Thanks for your responses.

Following on from my nation/league question, are there any guidelines I should follow about the number of nations and which they are? e.g. Would it be wrong to have England and Brazil, as it's unlikely a manager would go from England to Brazil or vice-versa in real life?

Chars!

You've pretty much answered your own question there. English managers are unlikely to manage in a non-English speaking Country, so the Brazil thing would be unlikely.

For some reason there's a word I can't get out of my head.

Welcome.

What the others said. Except I'm not Scottish, Greek or English and my favorite side isn't Hearts.

I'd agree on all of the above until 36. Being a Yank, I made my nationality that of the league I was starting in, unless I was playing in the UK, then I took Irish, since my family escaped the famine. Then I'll set my favorite team usually for my RL favorite side in that league, if I have one.

For highlights, I used Medium and Key. I like crowd noise, and I've always felt that it gives me a hint about what's going on that watching the commentary at warp speed doesn't. Though with the 2D it probably doesn't make 'as' big a difference.
