Default The Morton of Greenock

Decided to start my first FM '05 game as an unemployed bum, with all English, Scottish, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and German leagues, as well as the MLS.

I was employed within a week by the mighty Greenock Morton of the Scottish Division 2. This surprised me, it was a team NOT from the bottom division in Scotland, and it was also one of the favourite teams for promotion, with a modest transfer budget of 65k.

In the first season we won Division 2 with 3 games to spare, swapping places all the way with Brechin who also got promoted, but ended up 2 points behind us in second. We also tasted League Challenge Cup glory, which, in my opinion was a greater success. The future looked promising...

Pre-season came about and I notice we are in the red. My two top strikers, one scoring 34 in the season before and the other scoring 27, both had Wnt next to their name. The first strikers value had gone up from 15k - 250k, and the second strikers from 2k - 60k. Therefore I decided to cash in on them. I got 800k  for the first striker from Aberdeen, and also 120k for the second stiker from Hearts.

I was obviously pleased with this, and have since been able to buy about 10 new quality players without even spending a fifth of the money we got from those transfers.

Second season and we are currently at January 10th, with Morton sitting at 4th in the Scottish Division 1. We crashed out of the League Challenge cup at the first stage this year and out of the League Cup in the 3rd round. We still have the FA Cup to come, which is possibly our only chance of glory, as Hibs are already 10 points clear of 2nd place and 17 points clear of us in the sole promotion spot.

We'll keep fighting though!

Yeah, the computer seems to be very generous in offering you jobs if you start unemployed. There's a thread about it somewhere.

KUTGW!

I can't beleive it... we won Promotion on the last day of the season after winning 4-1 with Hibs losing 4-0. We were promoted by one goal better goal difference. Fairy tale stuff!

Sorry if that sounds like bragging, but I don't think there was a way of telling you that without it sounding amazingly weird.

I signed a great young Scottish forward over Christmas who produced the goods. He is now knocking them in for Scotland U21s, and has been sold to Inverness CT for £1.8 million, a profit of £1.778 million in 5 months... lucky!

We were knocked out of 1st round of FA cup last year by the way, losing 3-0 to a team second bottom in the league below.

Bring on the SPL and surely relegation!

You're right!

Just had a look at their past transfers and they had recouped about 150k... so I am also baffled as to how they got the money. But no, I don't care.

Anyway... 7 games in to our maiden SPL season and we have won 3, drawn 2 and lost 2.

For some reason, 10 out of Motherwell's first 12 games are on TV. Bug?
