a short story. Has anyone played as bishop's Stortford?
I have recently begun a new chapter in my managerial career, to compliment the new addition to my football management sim collection. Proper LLM, and not just League 2 or Serie B.
Firstly, the new FM is, in my opinion, a leap ahead of the last CM. The depth of the LLM now is such that you do feel that you, as the manager, are running the club single handed.
I pondered my first start up. Who to be? After throwing the usual “bigger teams” (Spurs, West Ham. Please don’t take offense, this was to adapt myself to the new skin and game layout) I decided to jump in at the deep end. To my utter amazement, and to be honest , my local team were available to manage. For the first time, I could manage the players I know personally, those who I talk to after match games in the club bar!! THE MIGHTY BISHOP’S STORTFORD!!!
(Their inclusion to the new game is due to their fortunate promotion into the newly formed conference south from the Ryman Premier. They only had to finish in the top 13!!!)
Only had to avoid relegation and build a tidy squad to stay afloat. After 13 league games, this target is JUST being met. One thing I found from the new game is how important cup games come to be for teams outside the football league. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE a F.A cup 4th Qually at home against a side lower than you. The win itself earns the club money to afford to pay the wages of most of the first team for a month!
LLM, you got to love it.
(ps has anyone else started as Bishop’s Stortford? Not that there would be such an attraction to the job!(

Year i'm playing as them now, they're my local team team too (or at least they will be until Braintree get promoted). I'm not doing much better, hovering around mid table in my first season.
You say you know the players? Are they all as argumentative IRL as they are in the game? (see my earlier post)

It's okay if you're from Poofland and actually have local Teams which are LL and may be promoted to playable Leagues...don't happen in Jockland
I'll take on my localest...by road, as the crow flies probably East Fife would be most local ...Team, which are the mighty East Stirlingshire (in the online game too  )
Welcome to LLM btw, AXBSPRQTZ

i love the new depth of players, i've already found 3 guys who went to my secondary school (i'm 20 now) in the lower leagues of FM (well one of them plays for man utd reserves so not all of them) and managing the second best team in the my city (cambridge) is a bunch of fun as it seems so easy to get loans of United players to City ( doubt its deliberate but its nice and realistic for me )

The problem i always have when playing as a local team is that i can't help but let my real life knowledge of the players inflence how i play.
It's very un-llm i know, but i can be hard to take when your favourite player consistently gets 5s whislt the guy you know is a carthorse is running rings around the opposition!

yep playing Bishop's Stortford, currently 2nd with a game in hand after 14 or so games, incidentally i spotted Chelmsford playing Braintree in the 4th Qualifying FA Cup, now that I wouldn't mind seeing in RL even though i'm no longer local to that area
