Son of a tit I keep forgetting about player naming when discussing real-life football, just slips out. Somebody fix it please.
Good to hear they hopefully will make it. Nice to see them do fairly well IRL as well
But doubt they will knock up the leagues any time soon...

More than you may think.... I've been to see Tamworth twice this season, and I'm sure Nobby McDonald posted somewhere that he's been to watch fairly recently aswell.

Ummm... you wouldn't be lurking at some site now would you? |

End of first season:
Won the Conference on goal difference after throwing away an 11 poit lead over the last six weeks. Slump in form was initiated by being dumped out of the FA trophy by a non-league team, (I concur, cups ARE Sh1te!), and some erratic goalkeeping.
Successes for the year were a solid back four, and a young strikers prolific goalscoring.
Negatives are a bank balance in freefall, no interest at all in many of the clodders in my squad who I want rid of, an very poor performances in the cup competitions.
Only players in were two free transfers, one a DLC who started at left-back and played well, and one an AMC brought in to provide cover and competition for a midfield berth but didn't really figure.
In the off-season I'll be trying to trim the wage budget by not renewing 3 or 4 contracts, and I'm selling my star midfielder to Dunfermline for 120k to try and help the bank balance.
I've got my eye on a couple of players from Scotland, and I'll be looking for cover for my aging and erratic French goalie, financial position is making life difficult though!.
Roll on Div 3.

Update end of season 2:
Fininshed 5th, knocked out by Bury in the first round of the playoffs courtesy of their right back scoring a total fluke from 75 yards out!
To be honest, I'm glad because my squad has nowhere near the depth/quality for Div2. Still have not bought a single player, only 2 frees came in, both teenagers brought in to develop for the future. I had a very good young Goalie and prospect at striker come up through the youth squad who played big parts in the campaign.
Had good runs in the cups which brought the bank balance bank to a positive amount, allowing me to get rid of some of the leechers who nobody else wanted, however the board responded by cutting my wage budget!
I now have only 25 players on the books and 13 of those are under 18!, board expects "Safe Mid-table" but heaven help us if the injury bug strikes. If I can re-negotiate some contracts to free up some wages room I might be able to buy my first ever player, however it looks like I'll have to pad the squad out with 0% wages loanees.

Update end of season 3:
Sorry for the long gap, been away doing "real life".
Well, the Stevenage fans are hailing me as some sort of hero 'cos we won the LDV, league form was patchy at best finishing 13th. Bought my first ever player (Yay!), a Scottish AMRC for 20k. Lack of good cup runs means the bank balance is still hovering around £0, although I did get a few good offers for one or two players I didn't feel they had to be sold as the squad is very thin.
Another couple of youngsters came through at LB and DMRC, and I'm hoping for a few more this off-season as I'm letting go a few oldies who aren't regulars. Perhaps if I get a few decent youths and the league form is more stable next year we can push for the play-offs again, although if the team falters I might clean-house in January.

Update end of season 4:
Well, after finishing 5th and 13th in the last two seasons I thought the board might get a bit ambitious, but no, they wanted me to avoid relegation. My league form was much improved over the previous season (i.e. I managed a few results away form home!), and we finished a comfortable 2nd, 7 points behind champions Cheltenham.
I sold two players, my star striker to Notts Forest, and a 15y.o. midfielder to W.B.A. both for 250K. I brought in a striker from Southport for the grand sum of £0, who turned out to be player of the year and begged 25 goals despite a 2 month injury. A couple of loanees also helped out in midfield, however there wasn't much came up through the youth system this year.
I didn't even bother trying to defend my LDV win, and a very young side went out in the first round to Gravesend. The other cups threw up away ties to West Ham and Wolves which combined to push the bank balance up over £1million.
So, it's onwards into the great unknown of Div2. The board have given me a very generous transfer budget of £450K, but I'm hard up against my wage cap of £12K, so I'll look to bring in a few quality loanees. Hopefully my young players continue to develop, I'm really chuffed with the goalkeeping at the club (my 19y.o. starting keeper could play in the premiership now!), and I'm confident of staying up though a relegation battle would be exciting!.
