Secondly how does a 21yo Turks and Caicos islander end up playing for german Div 2 side Kickers Offenbach in 2006.

It becomes a bit clearer if you work out where the bl**dy hell the Island is!!

It can happen you know. Teams can scout in certain countries that most people don't know about for undiscovered talent. As far as I know that a keeper from Samoa went on trial to southend united this year.

Well I'm a Dundee utd fan and our manager went on his annual holiday to trinidad last year .

Can't grumble though the little fella bag players of the season for regional south and knocked in 30 goals and 10 assists in 34 games

In British football's lower rungs, there are a lot of players from places like Barbados, Bermuda, Angilla, Cayman Islands e.t.c
This is because they have immigrated to Britain (or in Cayman Islands case, have British Passports) or through colonial links have Parents/Grandparents that were British so qualify for citizenship. If they weren't UK citizens i'd imagine their home nations FIFA rankings would be too low to qualify for a work permit.
However, I don't remember German ever colonising the Turks and Caicos islands.... perhaps the guy immigrated to Germany? or applied for a trial.

The idea that Turks and Caicos and other players are imported to Europe is not always true.
The Caribbean Island countries have all started to enter the World cup etc. and have started to look for professional players in Europe who are eligible for their countries.
This happened a few years ago when a number Conference division players became internationals after one particular country's manager passed the word that he was looking for players. One chap playing semi-pro for a non league team became an instant international and was interviewed on the BBC.
