After noticing threads saying that they believed the tempo was the cause behind the shots/goal ratio issue, i decided to raise my view on this problem.
My experience with the loads of shots/no goals issue is that in comes in spells, i have found that sometimes i can go for half a season without this problem and then all of a sudden i will have 10 games in a row where it occurs, particulary against bad opposiion. Due to this i dont believe tempo can be blamed but rather the flucuaion of form and morale.
Im not saying that its correct but rather that bad form might be relfected more in poor finishing than in general play, resulting in the creation of many shots with a lack of goals. Now obviously if a team is having a run of bad form, there finishing is likely to suffer but so is the rest of their game.
I might be completley wrong here but i just dont think this problem can be blamed on something static (like specific tactics) because my experiences of this problem is that it comes and goes.
I do agree that there are too many changes. What i am trying to get accross here is that in most games i convert many of these chances (therefore there are far too many goals) but then in patches i cant convert any of these chances.
It is not uncommon to have games with scorelines like 5-3 6-1 5-0 countless times during a season but i have found that this has been a common problem during the CM and FB series.
We have never had this problem in earlier versions. I have been a CM/FM games since 99.
who is we exatly? do you speak for everyone on this forum. I have found this to be a problem in many of the previous CM/FM titles(i have owned every one since the very first) but then again maybe i always play attacking tatics. Even if i do play very attacking tactics, keegan would be proud of some of my scoring and conceding averages
Maybe there was, but not to that extent. With FM08, way to many wasted one on ones. way too many saved close shots. Fm07 had too many injureis, although SI never admited it.
The one on one and rebound issues are disheartening, altough it would be interesting to see stats on how many one on ones are missed in IRL.
In any case i am willing to overlook these problems to a degree if there was an element of consistency but i find it really frustrating when i can beat chelsea, arsenal and liverpool but cannot score against wolves, sunderland and southend etc despite having 20+ shots. Unless i just have a bunch of players who only ike big games and have motivation problems.
I think we both agree with tth same problems its just that im trying to look at why the shots/goals issue changes thoughout my seasons
if you did want to see whether shots/goal ratio and morale is linked all you have to do is look at your players morale when their not putting the shots away. morale is not a hidden stat.
