I have a 1.7Ghz processor with 512mb of ram, but it keeps crashing when playing FM2008, It just switches off, But my laptop is above the minimum spec for the game, Anybody any ideas what i can do?? I can play the game and i am very frustrated.
512MB of RAM is really scraping it, and even if it didn't crash it would be unbearably slow. I use an macbook with 1GB of RAM and it works fine. Have used it on a pc with 768MB RAM and also seems to work ok.
Try switching off the player images and anything else that doesn't affect the actual game. My old, lumbering desktop sprang into life when I did this.(512 MB RAM)

Try looking in task manager and see what processes are running. You can normally disable quite a lot of these which should help. Ultimately though you might have to get more ram. Its not that expensive and is relatively easy to fit yourself.

is it just fm that switches off or your laptop, make sure you have the patch and turn off background software

Definently be a overheating problem.i had this with my old computer, i thought it was a virus.i switched it on and it last 2 mins before shutting down
I had someone open the comp up and my fan was broke and the motherboard started to fry.
Meant the bin for the computer, you might be able to save a couple things like your ram, sound card etc if the heat pattern hasnt got to them from the motherboard
