Although the game is great (except for a few flaws - player development - poor long term AI).
One area i feel the game could improve on is player motivation. Very often some managers can seem to get so much out of the players that perhaps previous managers couldn't, although tactics play a massive part i think motivation is perhaps overlooked.
Presently in the game, all the motivation is portrayed via the media and in team talks, which forgets everything in between. The problem with this is that many managers do not want to express their motivation via the media and the team talks only go as far as the match itself.
I was watching the tv the other day and Lawrenson was talking about asprilla and ginola at newcastle. He said how often they woulld turn up late for training or would stand and watch. He then said that Keegan would often take them aside and give them a man to man.
It would be nice to see some system which could give you a run-down of each days training, with each players attendance, effort, happiness etc. You would then have the option to give talks to the players individually or as a group. These talks could onsists of several back and forth statement options. Not only would these talks change the motivation for training but also morale for upcoming games, end of seasons, relegation battles etc
I dont know much about programming so dont know if this would add loads of extra processing needs. What do you think? would appreciate any feedback
Good idea. I cannot believe SI haven't added an option to have a chat with a player behind closed doors yet. This whole area could do with a revamp as doing everything via the media is highly unrealistic.
i would like to see cut down the effect of team talks.
ql idea would be to have an option to prepere your motivating for next match. very easy one; click one of this options:
- fire up your team (agressive one)
- forget your feelings, cool down
- motivate them on football only
also you could be able to do it for every player also
I like this, if you constantly kept giving the 'fire up your team' options during the week building up to the game, you might create a siege mentality which would be reflected in training and the game. This might work well but could also backfire by increasing the likelihood of a trianing injury or increasing the likelihood of a sending off during the game.
It would be nice to see much more details and control over training/motivation before important games or world cups
