I like FM a lot but I don’t like the Press features in the game.
They are asking each week almost the same question. And I have the opportunity to answer exactly with same line like last week.
So in reality not one person would buy this newspaper or magazine, because they are provided with the same content week after week.
When the company behind the paper / magazine is broke, then I should not receive any silly interviews anymore.
Please SI remove this ugly thing. It’s fun the first time it appears. But only the first time.
Another funny Press thing is communicating with my players. I can’t communicate with them directly, I always have to pass by the press!
* Doing well in the game? Go to the press.
* Doing not that well in the last match? Go to the press.
* Making a compliment to a player not of your team? Go to the press.
* Complaining about a series of bad games? Yes, you got it, go to the press...
If a real life manager would act like that, their players would be depressed soon and using Prozac all the time. Which is probably illegal for football players and thus they would be banned for 1 or 2 years for using drugs.
Please SI make sure I can communicate directly with my team. Or is the Managing Director of SI also only communicating with the press to get in touch with his people???
I’ve another wish. Instead of 1 question interviews I would rather like to see 2 ‘big’ interviews a year. One in July and one around Christmas/New-year.
They could ask all kind of questions:
•About new signed players
•About the team performance
•Future plans
•About leaving/staying at the current club.
•Or just checking gossips.
Use your imagination. Everything is possible, just open a newspaper.
It would be nice that your answers are blown up. (ex. if you said to the press that you’ll never would invite player X at a Christmas dinner at your home, the paper should write “Manager hates player X”). It’s fun and realistic. It’s The Sun Style.
Also, some people are media addicted, others like to work behind closed doors.
If the artificial psychology of the game was setup right then the press in the game would smell this and leave me alone when I ignore and avoid the press…
However people who like the spotlights, like Special Ones, can expect to discover a journalist under their bed.
Oh, one thing more. Not about the press but still in the world of communication:
“Can we get rid of those silly comments on referees?”
Or I agree and nothing seems to happen.
Or I don't agree and in rare occasions the football board is very silent.
Or I don’t agree with the referee his decision and usually then I am awarded with fines and tribune bans.
This is so Stalinistic unrealistic. In real life you never are punished for having polite remarks on a referee.
I can't speak for other forum members but I would imagine that most would agree that the way the media works (or doesn't) within FM is just terrible.
It wouldn't be so bad if I could just "no comment" my way through the game, but of course this in itself has an impact on the morale of the players.
I don't like it. I don't understand it. I don't want it at all.
But if it became more interesting and required less input I may enjoy it. I do like some of your suggestions though, but perhaps I'm not as warm to your ideas because I'd rather the media section was eliminated rather than changed.
I agree with the repetitive nature of the questions, but as always disagree with the solution. Don't remove the feature, just make loads more questions.
Second point, again I agree that you would be communicating to your players directly, although the press should ask you about players performances as well.
Last point - same thing, it's a fair point, but let's not get rid of the feature. Instead, there should be a much greater range of options, so I can say I don't think the decision was right, without angering the FA.
I remember on the old CM games , cant really remember if it was ever on FM, But you could directly complain to the fa about a referees performance, this hardly ever worked but surely it is better than telling the press of your unhappiness with the performance of a match official. maybe that feature should be re-instated into the game and media responses added to this feature.

It will still get tiresome over a longterm save though.
Media interaction just needs to be far less frequent.
