I've been the beneficiary of this sort of thing more often than victim. Can't complain at that. If I'm not scoring I tweek it a bit.

Also, even the crappiest long shots that trickle toward the keeper count as shots. I don't think deflected shots count if they weren't on target, so that may explain a bit of the discrepency.

This is a screenie I uploaded a while ago. Not as extreme, but still a good result.

I was Leeds BTW.

I had one against Inter Milan too. I beat them 2-1 at Elland Road in the first leg, and in the second leg they won 3-2. I had 2 shots on target to their 30+. My tactics were short, slow and defensive with a s**t-hot keeper.

I'm not complaining about the scoreline, mind you, but the sheer absurdity of the scenario. Show me a team that gets 30 shots with 19 on goal and doesn't win.
Scroll down to the bottom. 35 shots on goal, 61% possession and they could only draw: Match Stats

Thas screenshot is all too familiar with this FM version. If I knew how to post screenshots I would show you my 2-1 defeat against Carlsle as Newcastle in the league cup. I think I had about 25 shots and they had 2.

one thing about the york game which i think is relevent to this thread: york were the better team, and fully deserved to win. i seem to recall even ferguie admitted that. so although its a very unexpected result, it wasn't a 'freak result'. the better team won on the day, to use a footballing term.

i think here people are more complaining about these strange results when the good ol' shots to goals ratio arguement pops up.
