Don't apologise. This is a suggestion that needs to be reopened, debated, modified, clarifed and redebated until it finally appears in FMxx. Particularly the Assistant Manager suggestion.
People have been making intelligent arguments for a more productive assistant manager since FM06, and the more we drive the point home the better SI will listen.
I'm not suggesting that it will be simple (a context sensitive ability-dependent assistant manager would be a major technical achievement) but it would solve so many of the problems that clog the forum and would greatly improve the playing experience.

Definetly agree with the physio improvement.
Physios should be able to give a rough idea on whether a player can continue.
Also when a player injures himself, but there is no cross next to his name, but his condition is down to 70% or thereabout. Whats that all about?
You keep playing him, he ends up with an injury.
Maybe a physio could say Player X is 70%, therefore should be taken off or risk injuring himself.

Havant and Waterlooville are more likely to beat Liverpool than SI are to develop an AI assman that can interpret the match engine and give useful, understandable and realistic instructions that aren't blindingly obvious to anyone with half a brain.
Hmmm.... I can certainly imagine a scenario in which you're magically holding Liverpool to a draw at half time only to be told: "Assistant Manager Charlie Oatway observes your strikers are not creating enough chances. He suggests you adopt an attacking approach to the second half. He also suggests that the reason Liverpool are having so many shots fromm distance is because of the space allowed to their midfield, and recommends you push your defensive line further up the pitch." Game Over.
FM rookies are perfectly good at committing tactical suicide and then complaining about the game without throwing a buggy suggestion engine into the mix. A bad assistant manager giving counter-productive advice is worse than no assistant manager at all.
On the other hand, physios should definitely give feedback on suspected injury type and likelihood of exacerbating the problem by playing on.

Going by tonights Farce, I'd say they've got a chance.
Off-topic? Yes.
Uncalled For? I'd say merited.

Two really good ideas.
The green cross system, as some of you said, is not too useful. IRL there is a consultation with the physio, so I see no reason why it shouldn't be in the game.
At the moment it's like that the most rewarding thing is subbing the guy off, because you have no idea how serious the injury is (OK, you can see it when fitness drops to 10%, but in other cases after playing the match through with an OK fitness they're practcally dead and buried).
Another thing on the green cross injuries: I'd like to be able to pull the player from the field if I don't have more subs and the fitness level looks very bad, instead of sending him back thus risking further injury.
