For england keegan held his hands up and said he lacked something for the job - pretty honest and respectfull in my opinion (also didnt wait for settlement)
For newcastle he didnt really walk away when it was tough becasue it wasn't tough (newcastle were a top club)

and 20 for making up ********
Yet more anti newcastle and keegan crap, your probably just jealous because we have a manager who wears his heart on his sleeve and like to play exciting football. At the end of the day, the guy is a good club manager with a good record, and no the majority of newcastle fans do not demand instant success and aknowledge that fact that it would be very difficult to get in the top 4. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Kevin Keegan has a history of walking out on clubs. He walked out on England, he walked out on Newcastle and he walked out on Manchester City, when things got too tough for him. Maybe he did well to admit his failures, but after being out of football for a long time, I can't see how he's suddenly got better now to lead Newcastle to the instant success they demand.
The Newcastle owners/management did bow to public pressure when they appointed Keegan. They did not go for the right man. The right man was always going to be someone like Deschamps, or even Mark Hughes. Managers that have made success recently, and have worked hard to get to their positions within the current game. Keegan was hired on the basis of his past reputation, and that is hardly ever a recipe for success.
I am a Manchester United fan but have a bit of a soft spot for Newcastle. I know it will take them at least a decade to be serious and consistent title challengers, so as a Man United fan, I'm in no way threatened by Newcastle, so I quite like watching them and having them as my "second team" if that makes sense. I want to see them do well. But I have serious doubts about Keegan's ability to lead them into Europe within 2 years, and they will need to spend big, and more importantly, cleverly, to break into the top 6 on a consistent basis.
Right now, teams like Aston Villa, Everton, Liverpool, Man City, and maybe even Tottenham under their new "best man for the job" Juande Ramos are more likely to achieve anything than Newcastle, and Newcastle will have to improve ten-fold to even think about finishing higher than any of those teams.
Keegan is a feel good factor. Probably not a recipe for success but I hope he proves me wrong.
