I'm trying to put Cardiff. swansea. wrexham. and a few other welsh clubs into the welsh league and take berwick to an english league but when i start the game every league is there to choose to play except the english. why is this and how do i get about it? This all happens despite the fact i have enough teams in the leagues and have set them to play in the correct countries. thanks

You likely don't have the other details set - such as last competition, last position, etc.

Whenever you want to swap teams, NEVER edit the database, because stuff like this happen.

Use and EDT file and swap the teams that way - you will NEVER corrupt the database and it works every time.

Yeah i use the database but then rename it so the default is always there to fall back on. Whats the EDT file tho?

I've edited the scottish leagues before and never needed to change teams last positions etc and its always worked. And when i change endglish teams between their own divisions it works also. It just doesnt seem to work when putting a team like cardiff who play in the english league into the welsh league or Berwick who play in scotland into the english league.

But seriously, its a file that the game reads after loading the database to process any changes you wish to make.

For example, to swap 2 teams, you would have as a line in the EDT file:

"SWAP_TEAMS" "Liverpool" "DC United"

which would send Liverpool to the MLS and DC to the EPL.
