Rep Power: 0 | Scotland / Romania League Swap
Hi all hopefully someone can give me a hand.
I'm swapping Scotland & Romania in 2008. I've followed Dave's guide but I'm having issues.
If i swap the TLA's I can't select Romania as a playable league.
when they're not swapped and I create a test game the Romanian cup causes crashes, though I've yet to have it give me a crash dump even though it tells me its generated 1.
IS there something special about Romania that I'm missing? do all teams need to be Pro, or Semi-Pro or something similar,
Hope someone can help
Thanks,
Gordon

Romania may be one of those countries (like Sweden) that doesn't take too well to swaps.
Start your swap over from scratch, and do everything except for the teams. Save and make sure it works, then proceed with a few teams at a time. If that fails, then Romania is the issue.

So far I have found the only country that is no problem to swap is South Africa. I have attempted France, Hungary and currently failing with Portugal, and have had no luck with any. France crashes due to problems with the league cup, Hungary when you swap lower league clubs and fails to appear in the new game menu, and currently having the same problem with Portugal.
I really miss how easy this was to do on FM07. It's feels like Si went out of their way to make swapping as awkward as possible.
Despite this keep trying, and you will eventually succeed.

To add to this, Norway works well, as does Israel and Belgium.

da_gjm, I think Romanian league is in fact one the friendliest choice when you want to create a small-to-medium-sized, two-tiered league system (as needed by many unplayable countries). It has sufficient number of divisions and clubs, the cup works fine and involves good number of lower division clubs, the promotion/relegation systems from lowest playable divisions and unplayable division are realistic, and it is less complex to swap than most league its size.
I don't remember anything special about the Romanian league, but since you used Scottish clubs, maybe you'd better check the B-TEAM/II-TEAM THINGS as Romanians have a lot of in the lower division when Scottish have none, you can sometimes mess this up without you know it and end up with wrong numbers of team in a division. That thing really happens.

It doesn't matter, I tried both ways using Scotland(in one I added reserves for the first and second division sides into various divisions, including first division sides having reserves in the second and the other with no reserves involved) and you do not even need to do last position or last division. The game sorts it all out with no problems.
