Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

My Version 1 Post: http://community.sigames.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1519717...312094273#5312094273

I've tweaked the offense and the defensive to play better as a team and produce better results. I've also altered the formation somewhat.

Although the 2 AM, 1 MC formation was working well offensively, it wasn't doing its job defensively. With some tweaking, I have allowed the DM to help in defense, the AM to help attack, and the MC to do both jobs to create a well-balanced midfield.

Before applying:
*Get a good striker who is a tall but also creative target man. He should be someone like Adebayor in real life... someone who can take the ball down, head it well, and play good through balls to the wings.
*Get an MC and AM with high finishing and long shots, they will get shots.
*The two winger/strikers are BEST with players with Mutu or Van Persie, who are natural/accomplished in both the wing and striker position.... but finding a high finishing winger or speedy striker works well too.
*Don't forget to look for heading and jumping in your DCs, because they are your main corner threat and are also susceptible to opponent crosses, and need to head the ball out well.

Let me know if you need any other hosts, that should be plenty :p

Results:
With a pretty standard Manchesty City team, with the only additions being the free Russian Captain, Sergey Ignashevich and American striker Eddie Johnson, I went on a holiday for a season of the premier league.

I promised European football next year, and I passed with flying colors

Season 1

I finished 26-6-6 in the premier league, shooting in 89 goals and letting in only 39. I beat Man Utd 2-0 in the FA Cup final to hoist the trophy. I demolised Liverpool 4-0 and pretty much just ran though the lower teams with a few losses to the big four.

My big striker Bianchi got 42 goals in 47 games, including 11 assists and 11 MoMs. My starting winger/strikers combined for 34 goals and 33 assists, while my AM Elano picked up 18 goals and 28 assists. My main goalkeeper, Isaksson from Sweden let in only 36 goals in his 38 apperances.

My goals for next year are to buy a stronger DM force, a good MC (Michael Johnson is ok though), and some decent fullbacks. Perhaps a right winger/striker, because Petrov on the left outperformed Bojinov/Geovanni a little :]

Now... I did all this with a standard team, with no tweaking, preparation, any of that business, just straight holidaying. Imagine what you can do!

Post some results, and let me know how you do!

Bonus: Lower league team? Playing in the FA or League Cup against a team divisions above you? Try this tactic:

http://sharebee.com/1f4ce163

Despite it's name, you won't lose with this tactic.. it will give you the BEST possible chance at winning. With my League 1 side, predicted to go last in league 1 (eventually ending up 2nd however, decent L1 team), I defeated West Brom (Premier League), Man City (Premier League), Arsenal (Premier League), and several championship teams with this tactic. If you try it and wonder why it works... don't ask me, it just does. Who knew throwing everything you have and leaving yourself completely vulnerable to attack would work... but the FM2008 engine is crazy.

Great to see it's working well. This tactic can work for any team, its all about finding the right players.

For cheap targetman, try either Zampagna from Atlanta or Eddie Johnson from Kansas.

If you guys have any suggestions for future versions please let me know, Jinli's approach in my version 1 helped me improve my defense, so thanks to Jinli! I know for certain the defense can improve, but i've yet to manage it :]
