3 nil up in FA Cup semi final against Aston Villa playing as Newcastle... Ive had 23 shots with 5 on target, they've had 8 shots with 3 OT. My players are all 8's and theirs are 5/6's.
They go 4-2-4..
They draw 3-3 and win in extra time....
I switch off PC immediately.
The whole lack of realism is ridiculous.
Oh... and before people start spouting about IRL comebacks, this has happened about 6 times this season!

This is the kind of post that frustrates me. Yes, this kind of comeback is unrealistic in real life.
And why is it unrealistic? Because when the opposition goes gung ho to salvage a result in real life, the manager makes sure basic things such as a narrower width, making sure the wingers are marked well and neutralised, making sure the team don't over exert themselves etc. etc.
What I don't understand is that time and again people will point out things you can do to avoid these scenarios and yet people either don't listen or execute the advice poorly.
I'm not having a go, mossga, but what exactly do you do when the opposition go 4-2-4?
It's immaterial. We'll go into the same arguments over and over again. You'll say you've "tried everything" which is clearly not true, I'll say "well, this is what I do" and you'll say "that doesn't work for me" and we'll get into arguments about managers not changing tactics in real life, changing all the time yadda yadda yadda.
I have a full time job. I don't play the game all that much (certainly not as much as I did when I was a drop out student), but I do spend time looking and responding to the match engine and soaking up information on the forums. I vary my tactics in a tactical set. A set of 5-6 tactics which are built for certain scenarios. The only "tweaking" I do will be a few clicks here and there, and not every game either. I'd say one in every 10.
That's my approach and it works. I have issues with the game, but not as many as some. Do I take far too long over the game? I don't think so. Do I see "cheat" games like some posters say? Now and again, no more so than I see in real life. The game requires tactical adaptation, but not huge amounts. Those that think they have to tweak constantly to acheive don't have a good approach and good tactics.
Let's face facts - the game doesn't work as you think it should. However, if you play it in the way the makers intended it, with attention to tactics (but not over attention) and a good transfer policy, (relative) success is more than possible, however restricted you are for time. Just because you can't play the game you think it should be played in or what you decide is "realistic" (a virtue that is most certainly in the eye of the beholder) then you have a problem. Let's stop arguing about how the game should be and play it as it
IS. When you come to accept that the game will be more enjoyable. Or, alternatively, don't accept that and stop playing the game. Logically that can be the only way to look at it.
