Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Climbing the brick wall - my method

Whilst playing Football Manager you may have noticed that although you may be winning, you can sometimes 'hit a brick wall' when you reach between 10 and 15 league games. In other words you start to lose games and it can seem like you players have no idea what they are doing.

These instructions will show you a method of making slight tweaks to your tactics in order to get back to winning ways. I do not guarantee that this method will work but have found that if you have a decent team which is used to winning, then this method will get you back on form within one or two games.

Depending on your style of play will determine how you tweak your tactics. You may play a quick tempo and wide style or a slow narrow style. Whichever style you play the rules are the same.

-Before we adjust anything make sure you save your current tactic, if you have found it successful so far.

-The sliders which you will be tweaking are Creative Freedom, Passing style, Tempo and Width.

-All we have to do is move each slider up or down two notches depending on what style we wish to play. For example if you want to play with high creative freedom then increase the slider two notches. If you are playing a short passing game then decrease the slider two notches. Do this for all four sliders.

Remember that team instructions override player instructions therefore if you have creative freedom and passing set individually for some players then this method may have little effect.

-If the sliders are already at the top or bottom then you will have to decrease or increase two notches accordingly.

-Save this tactic and hopefully you should start winning within a couple of games.

-If again after a few games you start to lose then revert back to your old successful tactic. You can use these two sets of tactics for as long as they work then you may have to again adjust them using these instructions.

Please remember that this method is based on the assumption of you having a previously successful tactic and this tactic has stopped working. There are no guaruntees that this method will turn a useless tactic into a world beating one.

I always thought that individual instructions overide team instructions. However, I have been wrong before now.

I do apologise that is in fact what I meant to say. If a mod could possibly correct this?

No apology needed chaddy. Bearing in mind that player instructions do indeed overide team instructions; just how much or little will doing what you suggest, affect the team? I have tried doing this but not for any length of time.

Well assuming you have all you players on individual instuctions for creative freedom and passing, then altering the team instructions for these instuctions will have no effect. Therfore you would need to adjust these instructions for the individual players. I created this method based on the way I only have my defence on individual instuctions for these settings meaning the rest of my team would play according to team instuctions.

I really should of added these details in my first post. My bad.
