More realistic than signing them on the basis of one match - you can't get to all of their games yourself.

...and wrt scouting a player after one viewing, picture the scene:

I'd only look at the stats of a player who seemed to be playing better than average - if i went to scout a game and a lad was playing well i'd obviously pay more attention to him than other players, so would feel i'd have a better grasp of his ability. I'd still ask for a scout's opinion anyway, whether i decide to agree with him afterwards or not.
I agree it would be better to watch a player a few times before signing him, and it seems as tho the new hidden attributes are helping that - there's much more to a player than just what you can see by looking at his stats, and if you don't pay attention to how someone performs in live games you're pretty much taking your chances.
