There's been a discussion in the general forum about an issue pertaining to lower-league teams and youth players. Here's the thread:

Because this issue seems to have been around for awhile, I was wondering how experienced Llamas deal with it?

Like all threads, some of the posts are very good and some not so good, but it is porbably worth your consideration.

I remember Taipan's thread on this issue.

Well, the jist of it was that a RL manager would know a good young player when he saw one without looking at his contract/value. Unfortunately, instinct is not included into FM, so it's replaced by higher wages.

through my experience. I once had a youthh player on loads more wages on the other one i promoted them both up and after the season the one with the lower wages played absolutely exceptional and skilful and theother one made mistake after mistake...... It's stats not wages.

My policy is if they don't want wages at which they deserve then they won't be part of my team.

Sorry dude, have to disagree, Nakano makes a very good point regarding the impact this has on LLM and wages. It is a problem as most LLM clubs have real money problems and the board often asks the manager to get the wages down as the club is running at a loss (not all clubs but most I suspect) anyways what Nakano is saying is that if you are one of these clubs just managing to get by on nothing the last thing the club needs is getting given a youngster who is on the same wages as Golden Balls (slight exageration,but you get my drift) and well you can all work out what happens next, the club cannot afford said wages and goes bankrupt or if not that, makes a loss week in week, and thats not even looking at the fact that you wouldn't get a youngster on that sort of money in the lower leagues, (would you?).

I agree with nakano a patch has to be realised to fix this as it has the posability to ruin or destroy a LLM career.

I just hope this doesn't hapen to me at Margate, as I am running on a shoe string budget as it is, wouldn't take much to stuff club up.

Ok, let's say you get a bunch of 16/17 yo promoted from your youth team.

And there's one of them that stands out above the others. It doesn't mean that he's better than the lot. It just means that the brat is playing better compared to the whole bunch.

He can later be spoiled or stagnated, so it's not always about who looks more promising/ is best valued by the game/ gets highest wages assigned...

It's about how they develop.

I agree that the first week after the seasonal update is one of harsh decisions, specially if you get overpaid lads promoted, but that's the beauty of the game...

As for player naming, I only used *Poofland Captain* (who is hardly LLM) as an example about wages, hardly call that player naming with regards LLM.

How about you read the whole thread and add something postive to what both Tai and Ostrogorsky are saying about this problem with youngsters and wages in LLM!
