I decided to try the Belgian third division for novelty value (in FM it's home to some truly terrible fictitious players). The league table is divided into three stages, of ten games each. Does anyone know how this system works? - it appears that the best team in each stage gets a play-off qualification. Apologies if this information is to be found within the game itself, but I haven't come across it.
I'm playing RC Mechelen - can any fans out there tell me if the real team is as doggedly inept as the unreal one I'm wrestling with?
Winners of each stage into playoffs, team in first place automatically promoted. If this is one of the stage winners the place goes to the best positioned team not already in the playoffs. Same if a team wins more than one stage but not the league.
If you look at the league table, there should be a sub menu on the LHS (if using the default skin) of the competition rules.
That should give you the info you need, though off memory mkus sounds reasonably correct.
Indeed it's great fun playing Belgian 3rd division. Oh the beatings I took when I finally got to the second division with my Berchem team.
Only a pitty that indeed the Belgian youth teams seem to be invented for the most part (talking about the second division teams) and 3rd division teams not really updated. On the other hand Belgium 3rd is basically an amateur league so a very high turnover every year and it's not as if we can expect the Belgian researchers to know everything.
