Default The Relegation Battles of Zippy McDuff

Ok so it's 2010 and my first FM2005 is now IMHO ready to become an update

5 years and 5 clubs (Enkopings SK, FC Fredericia, FC Nordsjaelland, Kickers Offenbach and currently Aachen) had left me with the tag of obscure media friendly manager when taking over at Aachen. relegated from the german second div and in 12th when I took over, miseed out on promo by one place.

second season in charge was told by the board and the fans thay wanted me to go up, which I did clinching my 1st title with a game to spare.

and this is where it gets interesting now in German second div I ask my ass man to give a report on my team and I read the following:

" billy bob believes that Aachen will have no real chance of avoiding relegation from the 2nd div, unless the squad is heavily strengthened. he suggests a keeper and then get a mid feild as bill and ben don't have what it takes to cover for the 1st team."

nothing like that to inspire confidence.

My only hope is that having tasted 2nd div football and being a yo yo clube they boys will want to know what it feels like to say up for once.

The board have been very kind and given us 12 mill to spend but that is wmore than double whats in the bank, and getting players to sign with the knowledge they will go down is tricky.

WEll here goes

PS sorry for the wordy start short and snappy form now on see you mid season for a report on survial satistics

If you can't stay up with a budget of 12million (euros?) then you deserve to be sacked :p

then it is harder to get players to the german 2nd than getting them to come to the championship

Yes it is true the board Gave me 12 million Euros, but the problem is they won't give me anything for wages and if I spend it we end up in millons of debt and our reputation is not good enough to attract decent players.

Good news though just got through the 1st round tof the german cup beating Mainz form div 1 3-0 at home (won 1 lost 2 in the league though )

having started the season with average form I got a call from ducth side FC Groningen Who have yo'd yo'd from 1st to prem over the last few seasons.

currently sitting 17th in the dutch premier division and looking like relegation contenders again. It seemed like time to move, having spent 3 years at Aachen and the oppertunity of top flight football drew me away.

lets hope the ship i left sinks and not this one. 1st game in charge is against Feyenoord, baptism of fire as they say

Ahh the joys of football in one of the 'lesser respected leagues'

it's the end of my fist season and a cracking run in my fist 12 games saw Groningen shot up the table. only low points being heavy beatings by the top 3 teams (totaling 14 goals against)

less than average form towards the end was helped by those around loosing too and we ended the season 5th, grabbing a EURO cup spot.

My attacking mid got Dutch Voetball Oeuvre Award (player of the season type thingie)

Half the squad want to leave for bigger clubs, and have all said they will go for free If thay are not transfer listed.

hoping our first Euro campaign gives us the boost we need to sign some decent squad players and helps top up the cash.

2011/12- FC Groningen

Oh joy 8 of my 1st team want to leave, 5 wont sign new contracts, 4 are unhappy and 4 cant decide what to do .

And all this after finishing 5th in the dutch first division, ending the season unbeaten in our last 6 games seeing us move from mid table to equal last seasons finnish. best results were beating PSV(champoins) home and away.

My first euro cup outing went ok qualifying through the group stages, though loosing in the 1st knock outstage to Anderlecht 3-2

ended up as loosing finnalist in the dutch cup, unable to beat PSV for a third time.

Board have cut transfer money, and will not allow a higher wadge budget, so I don't know how I will keep the players who want to move or wont sign new contracts.

The way things stand I maybe begging to the board to give me more time by christmas!

2012/13

The league after 25 games and sitting a point off relegation I walked, before I was pushed.
Having lost 10 regular team players 7 leaving for free, it was going to be tough to repeat lasts seasons efforts.

The olny high was getting to the 2nd knock out phase of the Euro Cup (where managerless chelsea bat me 5-1)

The fans were unhappy with me and wanted me gone, the board considered my position 3 times, and after I diclaired inrest in the chamionship job with fulham, and the press turned on me that I got my coat.

The best job on offer that I would realisticly stand a chance getting was the Rushden job in division 2.

38 games in we're sitting in 13th, board want mid table, fans want respectable. With 1.996385 in the bank and 653,103 to spend we shoud be ok. first challange is to reduce the wage budget, then build a a decent squad.

So im' off to buy me a defence

Dont panic.

patch is save game comatable as it says, but I was struggling with lack of database size, and wanted to get the best out of the patch so started a new game.

no other reason than that
