I finally started playing FM 2008 yesterday (after several bad experiences with previous versions, this time I decided to wait until at least there was a patch out, and besides I was still having too much fun with my FM 2007 save).
I've only played a dozen matches so far, but I'm horrified by the number of injuries and/or knocks that happen during a match. I get at least two of my players being affected by them in each match, so I'm wondering if this is typical of the new game, an amazing string of bad luck, or if it's actually my fault (since the staff is usually so bad/scarce in lower leagues, it might have something to do with my training). What I do know is that, for instance, I have six strikers in my squad and, within less than two weeks, they're down to one, as the other five are all injured (in one math I've had two starting strikers getting injuries, and the two who came in for them getting injured as well).
So my question is: do you also see more ingame injuries in the new FM, or is it just me?
I feel it is pretty random. Some seasons I have more injuries than others.
I do agree, however, that in the lowest leagues I had more injuries that lasted longer. That was probably due to the fact that my physio had a single digit stat for his speciality.
I do not feel FM08 is any worse than other incarnations.
Well, I'm talking specifically about injuries that happen during matches, and not the other, 'regular' ones. Having to use up all my substitutions to replace injured/knocked players is quite annoying. And now I'm even too scared to use my third substitution. If you say FM 2008 isn't any worse, then I suppose it's just an incredible string of bad luck then. Either that, or the players didn't get proper pre-season training.
I've not noticed any increase in the number of injuries.
In your case Goncalo you could always look on the bright side, too much choice is bad for you so having only 1 striker left is actually good for health.
Nah, I've hardly been plagued by injuries. My main gripes with injuries is where a player picks up a knock, I decide to keep him on, he players a blinder and scores a brace of goals, then is out for a week with a gashed arm or something which he picked up in the previous match...

You may have a point there. I was always wondering which ones of the three good strikers that I have should play. Now the choice is easy: the worst of the six has to play, and I enjoy myself hollering at the screen for each of the half-dozen 1x1 chances he squanders in a game
I've not noticed anything irregular. Injuries and knocks happen, and I have the odd spell where half a dozen or more players are injured, but that's pretty much the same as any club in real life.
Things got better now, and actually, as someone said earlier, there seem to be less injuries (especially long term ones) happening when compared to FM 2007. It was probably just a matter of bad luck (or else, since the players weren't still fully fit at the earlier part of the season, they were just getting injured more easily).
