I have started a new save in English Conference South. I was scouting for a centre back and my scout unearthed something he was quite excited about that was currently unattached.

I got a second opinion and my ass man was also very enthusiastic about him. So I signed him for a modest £90 a week.

Turns out he has a global ban until 2009 for robbing his local pizza shop

Unfortunately I'll be paying his wages for most of his ban

Anybody had anything similar?

Oh don't get me wrong I did laugh when I googled his name to find out why he had a global ban.

I should have spotted it but it's not something you really look for

Actually this raises an interesting point.

IRL, surely a club secretary would be aware of this kind of information and would pass it on before the signing was completed.

Something that could be implemented, perhaps?

Surely, it wouldn't happen that a club signs a player out of Africa just to find out that he's useless because it was the actual twin brother of the player they originally wanted to sign.

Oh wait, this really happened in real life.
