Dissappointment, Failure, Misery - The tales of a roaming Poof
Verl-German Regional Division North-2007/2008
Predicted 17th. Possibly the worst team I have ever managed. Jumped ship during the winter break after 2 wins and 4 draws, with only 11 goals.
For some non-apparent reason, AFC Telford offer me the job while sat in third place in the BSN. I want some of whatever their chairman must be smoking! I manage to go the rest of the season (8 games) without winning a game, and the team finish outside the playoff places in 7th.
AFC Telford – Blue Square North- 2008/2009
Revolving doors – 9 out, 10 in, including a stunning super Swede loanee. I win my first ever AFC Telford match on the first day of the season, overcoming Gateshead 3-0. However my form worsens, without another win until match 9, but with only two losses, I sit 16th. I turn it around there, and have a good unbeaten run of 11 games, that puts me up into the playoff places by Christmas. In January, super Swede returns to Aston Villa, leaving a legacy of 26 goals in 27 games. This hits hard, and poor form blights us for the rest of the season, and we finish 11th, well under our predicted 6th. Super Swede got Player of the Season.
AFC Telford- BSN 2009/2010
More revolving doors as I replace the entire squad – 17 in, 17 out. However despite this, the team underperforms yet again. A 5-1 thrashing to Barrow sees me lose it, and in a haze of fury resign as AFC Telford Manager
A month later, Universidad LP accepts me as their manager. Sitting 4th in Ligue B1, I predict a slide downward. At first glance, the side possess a wonderful team, but are riddled with injury and financial worries, £1.5 million in the red, with half the first team injured. However, the team played well, even climbing to first for a while. Unfortunately, reality set in, and the team lost the third and fourth from last matches, putting them fourth, with a home match against arch-rivals, second place Las Palmas, resulting in a draw in front of 600 more fans than had ever before turned up set the stage for a classic final match away at fifth place Rayo Vallecano, with a draw or a win meaning that Universidad were in the playoffs, but a loss meaning Rayo were in the playoffs. The board decide, possibly sensibly, to turn this into a fan day. In the 8th minute, we took the lead from a fluke cross, against the run of play, but their form showed when they equalised on 20 minutes. Rayo are dominating the game, but after 80 minutes, the ball is cleared from a corner and my Serbian striker scores his second, this time from the halfway line, past a keeper waaay out of his area, to secure a playoff spot. Or so I think. In 84 minutes, they strike to equalise. And on 86 minutes, they score a wonder goal from outside the box to secure a gutting victory. Balls.
