I will not be be purchasing FM2008 when and if it comes out for the 360. I'm on a tight budget as it is and cannot afford to keep buying dodgy games that eventually corrupt saved data. What makes it even worse is when you have successfully managed to navigate all the way to, say, season 2020/21 and you assume you haven't been affected - BANG! You have been corrupted! NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!
If SI can officially confirm that the save/load problem wont affect FM2008, and that other buyers of the game haven't came across any problems, then maybe, just maybe, I might buy it. There's no denying FM is a quality game, it's just when you have these niggly things in it. it can us sooooo furious! lol
i never said the game wasn't... FM07 is an amazing game when everything is gling accordingly, but when the "haha your game has been corrupted" comes along, it does leave a sour taste in your mouth.
the problem is, it takes a lot of time and effort to play the game to a season like 2020/21, and I could only imagine how ****ing off it would be to suddenly find my game corrupted
I guess the closest I've had was losing my Brighton game, where I'd secured my position in the Championship, was about to get the new stadium at Falmer.. but I needed to do a format, so I backed tons of stuff on a DVD... but didn't check it, and found it hadn't burnt properly
but it does take it out of you, and is one reason I've stayed away from FM on 360 so far. Here's hoping they get it fixed soon
Yep, the feeling of losing over 25hours of game data (ie my 2020/21 Barca game) is really annoying. I couldnt honestly say what I felt back then on here as SI would probably ban me for using really bad language!! lol. I was livid - I had a quality team and I had a fellow Scot as my Attacking midfielder who I had snapped up a 16yo for £250K and had turned him into a player wanted by every big team in the world. Man Utd came in with a £75M bid for him! That was how darn good he was! And then the game went currupt!
Oh well, lets hope FM08 has no such bugs in it! lol
I admire the effort porting FM over to consoles and to make the processing faster on a 360 than alot of PC's out there is an achievement certainly.
However I'm not 100% about FM '08 right now, the save issue is of course a cause for concern but even if that's ironed out (which I fully expect the SI chaps to be able to do), I felt FM '07 was a slight step back for the series. The pitch and players in the match engine on the 360 version are condensed, which is pretty irritating and the overall 'tab-lead' menu system is more fiddly and confusing than the 'legend' system of '06 I thought.
FM is starting to lose the fun I've always had with classic Champ Manager for me though anyway, which is why I (and many others I've noticed) have gone back to the CM's of old lately. I've been playing the update for CM 01/02 on PC and CM 02/03 on the old X Box non-stop for months now. It's a huge shame it'll never be on the MS BC list but it's the main reason I keep my old X Box.
I wouldn't know how good the older versions of CM/FM are as I was a LMA manager fan up until about 2004, as I had a PS2. I got into CM when the 2005 edition came out on the PS2 and it was an actual relief to get a decent football manager sim ont he old PS2 - the only downside to it (and still is for console versions), is that you couldn't select more than 1 nation to play in, which was cack, but still a decent game.
