I'm play as At. Madrid, first two seasons I finished 5th and did okay in euro & cup. I haven't spent much on transfers (I've actually made a small profit overall) but I seem to be unable to make any money. Now I'm £20m in the red and each month I'm losing around £500k. Hopefully I'll finish 3rd this year and get champions league football but how can this happen? I'm well under budget with wages, getting quite far in euro & the cup and I'm doing well in the league (3rd).
any ideas how to help my team start making money?
p.s. I do have a chinese feeder club but I barely noticed any difference.
ok I see what you're saying but do I have to continually find good young players, train them for a few years and sell them on? surely a club like athletico madrid would be making atleast a small profit each year?!
You're spending more on wages than you're earning from home matches. Try to decrease your wage bill. Get rid of all your youngsters if you have to, at least to get back into good financial shape. You can worry about rebuilding once you're profiting again.
When i took over at HK in Iceland, i cut their wage bill in half by cutting almost 75% of the entire squad on my first day there! It was December, so i had until May to rebuild. I spent about £40K cutting players, but it was worth it to make a profit every month thereafter in my opinion.

I've got a load of players whos contracts are up at the end of the season (6 games to go) and that'll save me around £100k a week.
I know what you're saying but aren't At. Madrid ment to be one of the bigger teams in spain? just didn't expect them to struggle so much.. oh well its all good fun!
my first game was athletico madrid, and i quit it when the patch came out. i was in the same boat as you after my very first season. i finished 4th, but had no money to strengthen the squad for the champions league.
i was forced to rely on winning champions league games as my only form of significant income, i won 2/4 before i quit that game. i even had an american feeder club.
i restarted my Juve game after the patch was out, and i noticed a significant change in their finances and income. don't know about athletico now, though...
