I started off unemployed in the first season of the game and got the Burghausen job in the German Regional South Division. After looking at the rules it looked as though the team finishing 1st was the only team to be promoted. 34 games on I finished 2nd and therefore expected to remain in the division for another season, however when the new season begun I found myself in the German Second Divsion. I never received any news about this and was pleasantly surprised but I'd like to know why I got promoted, how does the system work? I'd appreciate any answers. Thanks
I've checked the rules again and it definately says top team promoted, it doesn't mention the team finishing 2nd being promoted. But thanks for the reply.
Was it a reserve team that won the division? If so the clubs 1st team may already be in the division above thus preventing the champions from being promoted.
No Aalen won the league. The top two teams from the German Regional Division North got promoted aswell and four teams got relegated from the Second Division. With the new season the rules again say that the top team wins the Regional Divisions but 3 teams get relegated from the Second Division.
My recollection - and I don't play Germany so I may be wrong - is that there was some kind of funky reorganization of the two lowest playable German leagues this season, which led to a one-off promotion/relegation structure for the first season which differed from what the rules stated.
I believe the rules and behavior match for the second season.
Clever use of "Find" should be able to come up with threads on this issue in the September-November time frame, but I didn't spot it on my first two tries.
Yup, an entirely new Third Bundesliga and Regionalia West were implimented, meaning in the first season all sorts of odd shenanigans can happen. After the first season its always worked fine for me - probably an error in the description then, as with 2 regional leagues two go up from each, but with 3 only the 1 each does. Its probably just set to show you the latter one and not the very first season's 2.
Perhaps Oktober's right, ie. two teams from the North and one from the South get promoted one season, then two from the South and one from the North, etcetera. I don't know.
