I can't window FM on my laptop, even when changing it to the biggest resolution (1200x800). FM says 'Changing the screen settings failed. Please make sure your system supports the settings.'

It then reverts back to 1024x768 which makes FM full screened and stretched out, which looks awful.

I managed to get it windowed on my old desktop at the same resolution, why not on my laptop? Anyone know I can solve this problem?

hmm, have you tried editing the shortcut?

If not, here's what to do:

Go to you're FM.exe file and right click and drag it onto your desktop (creates a shortcut). You may have this already. Anycase, right click it and select properties. In the "target" box you should see: "CProgram Files\FM08\fm.exe" or something similar.

Add the following onto the end: -windowed -fullscreen -fullscreen_height=1200 -fullscreen_width=1800
Using whichever resolution you want (it's best to go for your desktop resolution). Start FM. Under options -> preferences uncheck fullscreen.

Oh, yeh, target box in the shortcut should read:

"CProgram Files\FM08\fm.exe" -windowed -fullscreen -fullscreen_height=1050 -fullscreen_width=1680

And of course you use this shortcut to start FM not the .exe file.

Tried it.

I closed FM, did what you said and when I start up FM again (using the shortcut) it says it cannot open fullscreen mode. So I then tried it without the resolution shortcut, then tabbed out of FM and put the shortcut in and then back into FM but it wouldn't window it.

Do you have to change the shortcut in the target box from cprogram files\sports interactive\fm.exe to cusers\yourname\desktop\fm.exe ?

Ignore that last question, just realised how stupid it was.

It's a shortcut TO an .exe on the desktop, not an .exe itself.
