I recently reformatted my laptop and my FM08 was running great till then.
I loaded the game onto my laptop and when I went to play the game I was informed that the disc is not the original and to place the original and not a back up into my laptop.
What is the problem?.
I have tried my brothers disc and his does the same even though it works ok on his comp.

This sounds like a problem concerning the on disk copy protection to me. Search for something called 'securom' for more information and help about how to fix this issue that a lot of FM users seem to be having.
