Why is it, however well I am performing in my current division, I can never develop a gap between myself and any other teams? There is always another team that manages to keep up with me and wins 95% of their games.
It's almost as if FM is cheating. It doesn't want me to get away and win a title easier so it lets another team maintain a small gap on me.
However if I am at the other end of the table it will let the other teams get away from me.
Is FM really cheating or am I just unlucky?

It's the opposite for me: the division I'm in almost always ends up really tight, less than 10 points between promotion and relegation. It makes it very tense at the end of the season! I have run away with the title this season, and I think it was because I stopped tinkering with tactics and buying players.

it is very hard to run away with it early on in fm08, had no problems in fm07, apart from conceding the title in the last 10 games after a 12 point lead.
i lost one game in my second season at arsenal in 08 and still only won the league by 2 points. stange thing is, united and chelsea were losing home games for fun.
i won the champions league before i won the league with madrid in fm07, then i won the league by 20+ points for the next two years.
so you're not unlucky.

i do find that the leagues are very closely run. i also find that perhaps the top teams dont conseed as many gaols as perhaps they should.
but the prem league winners usually only loose 4 games a season or so anyway.

I can't win the league at the moment as United let alone run away with it. Chelsea have won the first two season comfortably but this season we were much better and should finish on 89 points if we win two very easy matches. But we won't win the league because Chelsea have dropped 2 points in their last 20 games - that is 58 from 60, just seems impossible to keep up with them.

The AI doesnt cheat. I have won the Prem by a good lead, so unless it picks it moments, it doesn't cheat by making other teams better. You're just unlucky. It's crap running away with the league anyway, much prefer a tense battle up there!

If 21 points clear at the end of January in the Championship.
On FM07, I've only run away with the Prem once, that was my first season. Every other one it went down to the wire (even down to goal difference once).
